Today i learned myself. Today i understand why I always (most of the time) finish my food. After visiting Tokcik Ma's place, ayah brought us to eat at his favorite rojak and cendol place. On our way there, Ayah told us how lucky we are to have such luxury. He praised Mak for being strong when she was pregnant with Abang B 35 years ago. Ayah uses the word 'strong' because he said they were poor at their early marriage. Ayah didn't even have a car at that time. They went for balik kampung riding trains. A train filled with people they can barely move. Leave alone to break fast eventhough there were foods in their hands.(I imagine the crowd was like in our Putra train at peak hours packed like sardine in a can , but pregnant and stucked in there for hours riding back to Kedah). Are you kidding me? Who can stand that? Ayah even said (Mak awak tak mengada macam budak-budak muda sekarang. Alah itu, alah ini. Mengidam itu ini.) No wonder Mak told me she never had this mengidam thing the whole time she was pregnant with 6 of us. Mak kept quiet the whole time when Ayah complimented her. Like she was not there. Mak has always been like that. *chuckles*
Then I remembered why most of my friends kept asking why i always finish my food and barely left anythy behind. It's because of my Ayah. He thought me to do so.
Few years ago, Mak and Ayah went to South Africa to visit Abang B and Kak S. During their visit there, they always had their meals maybe at some kinda fancy restaurant. Ayah said he saw a guy well-dressed with a coat and he looks neat. But what Ayah sees after that left him in awe. He saw the guy went through the restaurant garbage place and ate a handful of garbage without even looking. Ayah said the garbage he ate was still filled with waste and napkins but he still kept chewing everything until the security guard chase him and beat him over and over to make him leave the place. Ayah cried witnessing that. Who would've thought a homeless guy would clean himself just to go have a bite at a garbage place.
Sad ain't it?
I thanked you Allah, for all the ni'mah and luxuries you've 'lend' us.
